Not really but coke can be taken as the drink or the powder. Iggy Pop had quite the abuse history too...so those two are kind of my fernet and coke which go together nicely. But I was drinking fernet and coke, something I picked up living in Buenos Aires for a spell but then I was listening to Bowie and it made me then want to continue on and listen to Iggy and the Stooges...just kind of a what's happening this evening poem
It's so interesting to hear your story and the music that got you going and created your world. Music has always been a huge part of my life - often creating soundtracks for the events that happened to me. I remember marching across the Brooklyn Bridge when there was a teachers' strike and hearing Elmer Bernstein's score for "The Ten Commandments" thundering in my head. Only it wasn't Charlton Heston leading us, it was a guy named Albert Shanker. Did you ever see the Woody Allen mvoie, "Sleeper?" There's a joke about Albert Shanker and the end of the world.
When I was single I used to listen to a lot of music and riff "poetry". The next day it didn't always look as good as the night before however. Ha. I can imagine you marching with purpose in a teachers' strike with a thunderous score in your head to supercharge your purpose. I may have seen Sleepers some years ago, but I don't remember the joke unfortunately.
B…love Iggy Pop and seen him in the 80’s in a nightclub that used to be here called, Lupo’s.
I'm sure it was fabulous 🤘
It was a trip for sure✌🏻
Great piece and Fernet and Coke is the best!
Thanks. Yeah, I could go for a cold one right now. Cheers
I'm not an expert on David Bowie, but does your poem parallel his addiction to milk and cocaine?
